I enjoyed this book so much, and it really allowed me to view life from a different perspective in order to find the meaning of it。

Easy read, great content The section on Sunrise Salutations was very helpful。 I’ve actually started to do it in the morning and feel great。

The book touches important topics you can apply in your daily life to become a better person, but a little vague from context。 Author repeats himself several times especially about okinawan folks。 I also think that the detailed yoga, tai chi etc steps seem unnecessary to me and i skipped those sections。 It would be better to give more detail about meditation benefits or case studies rather than procedural steps。 Conclusion part sums up the book very well, i can read onlu the conclusion part afte The book touches important topics you can apply in your daily life to become a better person, but a little vague from context。 Author repeats himself several times especially about okinawan folks。 I also think that the detailed yoga, tai chi etc steps seem unnecessary to me and i skipped those sections。 It would be better to give more detail about meditation benefits or case studies rather than procedural steps。 Conclusion part sums up the book very well, i can read onlu the conclusion part after a while to remember everything this book offers。 。。。more

I like the philosophy behind this book and how the overall message is conveyed and applicable to our everyday lives。 Living with less stress, always doing sth。 that sparks one joy and to appreciate the present and life as how it is。 Resiliance is a true important component, although it is hard for one than the other to truly compensate the worst case scenario。 In the end living is all about trying, failure and growth ^^

I like how the Japanese always have a single, elegant word for concepts, ideas, practices, techniques, etc。 that would take a load of English words to capture (and then no doubt less profoundly)。 eg。 I bet there's a single Japanese word for that previous sentence which would be somewhat meta I suppose。 Not a particularly coherent book but I didn't really mind this as it made for quite an unpredictable read! A decent blend of the philosophical and the practical regards living well。 Generally very accessible, skimming over lots of familiar terrain (and for me at least, some unfamiliar too) though often with just sufficient depth to resonate and satisfy。 Though I imagine this book will appeal and be read by mainly older people, there's a lot of wisdom that would serve younger generations (<30yrs) very well here - a familiarity (and sympathy?) with some themes in the book such as Stoicism, resilience, impermanence, focussed attention and antifragility often seem a bit lacking in young people these days! The concept of Ikigai specifically was new to me (and the coolest Venn diagram I've seen all week)。 Perhaps unsurprisingly then, I don't feel as though I've quite found mine but feeling inspired to try to keep circling in on it。 。。。more

I wanted to like this, but just couldn’t。 The book is kind of an unfocused, meandering exploration of living longer。 While the authors shared many various methods of improving your lifestyle, I don’t feel they gave any actionable steps to finding your Ikigai。 If anything, it is a retread of common suggestions like; eating healthy, meditating, staying active mentally and physically with a thin veneer of Japanese culture applied。

Yey, I felt accomplished for finishing this book! This is my first nonfiction that isn't memoir 😍 As an ammature in this genre, I don't know how to give a rating for it。🙉🙊 But I honestly enjoyed this book, especially the interview with the people in Ogimi。 Words that have imprinted on my mind are Green Tea, Okinawa, Flow, Tai Chi and Longevity 😊 Indeed, Ikigai is a mysterious word same as our life purpose。 Yey, I felt accomplished for finishing this book! So Ikigai even has the famous image on the back cover: - the intersection of what you're good at, - what you love, - what the world needs, and - what you can be paid forThe book contents tells you to stop worrying, eat your vegetables, keep active and you too can live to 100。That's slightly cynical, and the subtitle does basically say it's the secret to a long and happy life on the cover, but there's a lot of focus in the book on what the people of Okinawa do, given they are all quite old。 It do So Ikigai even has the famous image on the back cover: - the intersection of what you're good at, - what you love, - what the world needs, and - what you can be paid forThe book contents tells you to stop worrying, eat your vegetables, keep active and you too can live to 100。That's slightly cynical, and the subtitle does basically say it's the secret to a long and happy life on the cover, but there's a lot of focus in the book on what the people of Okinawa do, given they are all quite old。 It does contain sections on yoga practice, reducing stress, and achieving flow through pomodoro etc。 There's a nice set of quotes from interviewing supercentenarians for why they think they've lived so long and any advice they might have, but that's a total of about 5 pages。 They describe what it was like living in the area for a week or so and interacting with the residents。Discusses Viktor Frankl's logotherapy in discovering meaning in living。 。。。more

Informative and inspiring but the title is rather misleading。 Ikigai’s only part of the book。

A nice little book, reasonably informative but no surprises here。

i feel i have discovered my ikigai and although i do not always follow my ikigai, it nonetheless lingers and i can easily reorientate myself。 aside from the first chapter which introduces the concept of ikigai, the rest of the book is a "dummies guide to longevity。" i feel i have discovered my ikigai and although i do not always follow my ikigai, it nonetheless lingers and i can easily reorientate myself。 aside from the first chapter which introduces the concept of ikigai, the rest of the book is a "dummies guide to longevity。" 。。。more

It was a quick read。 I understand the book delves with important topics but I felt they haven’t gone deep in making us think。 It could have been a good article。

Very few information we get to know about the lifestyle of Japanese in this book。 Suggestions and advise given by authors are very general in nature。 An average self development book。

⭐⭐⭐💫3。5。 The book introduced to me ideas that I want to research further and tailor to what I need。 I see a lot of reviews that "this book was all about how people in Okinawa live" - no? Also, even if it is, ikigai is about the life philosophy practiced in that part of the world; I see no false advertising here。 Things I'll take away - do a better study on Viktor Frankl's therapy, learn Tai Chi's techniques and motivation to improve my diet。 Speaking of diet, my only negative note for this book ⭐⭐⭐💫3。5。 The book introduced to me ideas that I want to research further and tailor to what I need。 I see a lot of reviews that "this book was all about how people in Okinawa live" - no? Honestly, I like this book。 The starting of the book is great。 The writing has good flow。 I read this because of my interest in the Japanese lifestyle and this book doesn't disappoint in that。 This book is not only about longevity but it throws the light upon several aspects of our life and how we all have forgotten to live。I will definitely follow this practically and will try to live a happy and satisfied life。But as I said the starting is just perfect but I didn't like the ending。 It is not i Honestly, I like this book。 The starting of the book is great。 The writing has good flow。 I read this because of my interest in the Japanese lifestyle and this book doesn't disappoint in that。 This book is not only about longevity but it throws the light upon several aspects of our life and how we all have forgotten to live。I will definitely follow this practically and will try to live a happy and satisfied life。But as I said the starting is just perfect but I didn't like the ending。 It is not interesting。If you want to a read self help or motivational book than you can buy this。 You will not regret 。。。more

a truly GREAT book, i am definitely taking some of the point from here with me。 would‘ve loved to read a bit more on how to find your ikigai and the overall theme of it, rather than the longevity of okinawians… still a great non-fiction book i really enjoyed

Meh。 I honestly skimmed a lot of it after I got the main points。 Felt like a lot of filler。

Don’t get me wrong it is a good book。 It is just very heavy oleander with Japanese words which make it difficult to read sometimes。 I do love how they explain what we can do to find our Ikigai in this modern world。 Will need to reread to understand it 100%

Pretty general, non-scientific and fluffy self help book。 Still got some good ideas out of it

Udah lama banget ngincer buku ini, beli tahun 2021, baru baca di tahun 2023, sangat menginspirasi dan memotivasi untuk perbaikan hidup kedepannya 😍

A Toby feel good book。 You likely won’t learn much, and I doubt some of the statements and studies, and it doesn’t really dive into how Ikigai works。 But this charmingly flawed book simply makes you feel good about all the investment you make into yourself and for that I appreciate it。

This was a very insightful read, there are so many practical things discussed in this book that can help you improve the quality of your life。 I love when a book makes sense!I've already started using some of these insights in my life and I look forward to introducing more。 This was a very insightful read, there are so many practical things discussed in this book that can help you improve the quality of your life。 I love when a book makes sense!I've already started using some of these insights in my life and I look forward to introducing more。 。。。more
